may we go for unbounded love and loyalty

Home...
Thank you much for all the prayers and support. I am writing you this morning from Ottawa. In one sleep, I'll be driving to Brantford to be with with my family and friends for a week...aaaand I will finally be blessed to see my beautiful fiancee. I thank you again for the prayers, as surely, God sustained me throughout and allowed me to come home (does He not sustain all things in His own ways?).

Unbounded love
In the book Rise of Christianity, Historian Rodney Stark wonders why the Christian movement grew so quickly during the first few centuries after Jesus' death. He explains that the growth was rooted in the response of early Christians to a wave of great health pandemics. A couple great plagues devastated the developing world.  When these plagues hit, Christians responded and did something that no one else did. They stayed, they helped and many gave their lives in doing so. In Starks' book, the bishop of Alexander wrote a lengthy tribute to the heroic efforts of the local Christians, many of whom lost their lives while caring for the sick and the weak and the forgotten of that world:

'Most of our brother Christians showed unbounded love and loyalty, never sparing themselves and thinking only of one another. Heedless of danger, they took charge of the sick, attending to their every need and ministering to them in Christ, and with them departed this life serenely happy; for they were infected by others with the disease, drawing on themselves the sickness of their neighbours and cheerfully accepting their pains. Many, in nursing and caring for others, transferred their death to themselves and died in their stead. The best of our brothers lost their lives in this way…' (sounds a little like Jesus, eh?)

Family, what if we really believed that the only way to live this life was through Jesus? What if we really believed that the only way to avoid eternal separation from God was through our Saviour? If we are saved, what do we have to lose...we already have Jesus. We must start living the life that Jesus called us to and then, allow others to AT LEAST hear this beautiful message. Sadly, most people 'know' of Jesus by using His name as a curse word, but have never actually met Who this Saviour is...and why He is a Saviour at all.
